Repose

Description

Repose is an intimate study of the human form at rest. A reclining figure surrenders to stillness, draped across a rocky outcrop as a length of flowing fabric sweeps over her body and spills toward the base. One arm trails loosely downward, fingers just brushing the edge, while the curve of a drawn-up knee and the fall of her hair complete a composition that rewards viewing from every angle.

Eric Thorsen balances the smooth, polished planes of skin against the rippling folds of drapery and the rough texture of stone, finished in warm bronze tones with verdigris accents. Mounted on a turned bronze base signed “Eric Thorsen © 2010,” this small-scale piece brings the tradition of classical figurative sculpture to a desk, shelf, or mantel.
