African Lion Stalking Sculpture

Description

This bronze lion sculpture captures the focused intensity of a big cat on the hunt. In African Lion Stalking, Eric Thorsen portrays a male lion pressed low to the ground, body stretched long, shoulders rolling forward, and gaze locked on unseen prey. The heavy, windswept mane, the powerful forelegs reaching ahead, and the taut musculature through the back and hindquarters are sculpted with the anatomical accuracy and sense of movement that define Thorsen’s wildlife work.

Measuring 14 inches, this sculpture makes a striking piece for a desk, mantel, shelf, or collection. It is shown here in two finishes: a rich brown bronze patina and a realistic painted patina with natural tawny coloring. It is mounted on a hand-finished walnut base.
