Description
Moose Breaktime is a life-size bronze moose monument by Eric Thorsen. It stands about 7 feet tall to the top of the antlers and weighs roughly 1,200 pounds. The bull lies at rest with his legs folded beneath him and his head held high under a massive spread of palmated antlers, the relaxed but watchful pose of a moose bedded down in a willow flat after a long morning of browsing.
Thorsen sculpts the moose with close attention to anatomy: the high, humped shoulders, the long, heavy muzzle, the bell hanging beneath the chin, and the broad, flat paddles of the antlers. The textured surface suggests the moose’s coarse coat, and a rich brown patina brings out the mass and form of the animal.
Because of its size and presence, Moose Breaktime works well as a centerpiece for a lodge entrance, resort, ranch, public park, corporate campus or private estate. Visitors can walk right up beside it, which makes it a natural spot for photos. It’s cast in bronze for outdoor display and holds up in any season. It can be mounted on a concrete or natural stone base, as in the photo, or on a custom base.
