Ammonite
$2,900.00
A sculpted reconstruction of an ammonite with a spiny, coiled shell and long tentacles, from Eric Thorsen’s paleobiology series on ancient cephalopods.
Description
Ammonite is a ammonite sculpture by Eric Thorsen: an ammonite with a spiny, coiled shell and long tentacles. It is part of his paleobiology series on ancient cephalopods.
About This Ammonite Sculpture
Ammonites filled the oceans for hundreds of millions of years, and their coiled fossils are among the best known in the world. Fossils show only the shell, so Thorsen’s reconstructions imagine the living animal, its body and tentacles restored around the shell as it might have looked in ancient seas. The series makes a fascinating collection for fossil lovers, museums, classrooms and anyone curious about life in deep time.
