Cameroceras
$2,900.00
A sculpted reconstruction of a Cameroceras, a giant straight-shelled ancient cephalopod, from Eric Thorsen’s paleobiology series on ancient cephalopods.
Description
Cameroceras is a cameroceras sculpture by Eric Thorsen: a Cameroceras, a giant straight-shelled ancient cephalopod. It is part of his paleobiology series on ancient cephalopods.
About This Cameroceras Sculpture
Cameroceras is often described as one of the largest shelled animals of its time, a giant predator of ancient seas. Fossils show only the shell, so Thorsen’s reconstructions imagine the living animal, its body and tentacles restored around the shell as it might have looked in ancient seas. The series makes a fascinating collection for fossil lovers, museums, classrooms and anyone curious about life in deep time.
