Description

Corinthian Helmet is a life-size bronze recreation of one of the most recognizable pieces of armor from the ancient world. Modeled after a museum piece, Eric Thorsen’s helmet captures the defining features of the classic Corinthian form worn by Greek hoplites: the smooth, rounded crown, the almond-shaped eye openings, the long protective nasal guard, and the sweeping cheek pieces that wrap closely around the face.

Cast in bronze, the same metal the original was hammered from, and finished in a deep green patina reminiscent of an archaeological find, the piece carries the quiet presence of an artifact that has survived the centuries. It is designed for display on a museum mount: a bronze rod rising through the center of the helmet, presenting it as if in a gallery case.
