Cyrtoceras
$2,900.00
A sculpted reconstruction of a Cyrtoceras, an ancient cephalopod with a gently curved, striped shell, from Eric Thorsen’s paleobiology series on ancient cephalopods.
Description
Cyrtoceras is a cyrtoceras sculpture by Eric Thorsen: a Cyrtoceras, an ancient cephalopod with a gently curved, striped shell. It is part of his paleobiology series on ancient cephalopods.
About This Cyrtoceras Sculpture
Cyrtoceras had a gently curved shell, a shape between the straight-shelled and fully coiled cephalopods. Fossils show only the shell, so Thorsen’s reconstructions imagine the living animal, its body and tentacles restored around the shell as it might have looked in ancient seas. The series makes a fascinating collection for fossil lovers, museums, classrooms and anyone curious about life in deep time.
