Grizzly Ridge

Description

A grizzly bear lumbers down a rocky mountainside toward the viewer, sunlight catching the golden hump of its shoulders and the pale fur of its face. Thick, expressive strokes of oil paint give the granite boulders and dry autumn grasses a rich, tactile texture, while dark evergreens and a distant snow-dusted range frame the scene.

Eric Thorsen captures both the power and the quiet confidence of the great bear in its high-country home.
