Resolve

Description

Resolve is a powerful study of the human hand, closed into a raised fist and cast in bronze. Every crease of the knuckles, the folds of skin across the palm, and the tendons running down the wrist are rendered with lifelike detail, giving the piece a quiet intensity that speaks to strength, determination, and the will to stand firm.

Eric Thorsen finished the sculpture in a rich bronze patina layered with mottled verdigris, so the warm metal shows through on the knuckles and raised surfaces like a well-worn monument. Presented on a polished steel rod mount, the fist appears to rise upward on its own, making a bold statement on a desk, shelf, or pedestal.
